The U.S. Green Building Council Southwest Virginia Chapter promotes sustainable practices for the built environment through education and leadership in our community. In these lean economic times, we are fortunate to be a part of a growing industry sector – green building. We are also very proud to be a chapter of the fastest growing non-profit organization in the world – the U.S. Green Building Council.
We meet every third Tuesday of the month in varying locations within the Southwest and Central Virginia areas that we serve. Participating in events such as the Green Living and Energy Expo, Grandin Gardens Earth Day events, Environment Virginia and Sustainable Blacksburg, we promote green building practices. We provide educational opportunities through our LEED® workshops and aforementioned monthly meetings. We also have advocacy groups that work to promote healthy environments in our homes and our schools.
Our 2010 Theme is 'Green Schools'. Volunteer opportunities abound! Check our volunteer page if you have a particular interest in one of our programs or if you just want to get involved. We welcome your enthusiasm and perspective and hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.
