Comprehensive Climate Change Bill in Senate Committee

As you may know, the U.S. Senate is expected to consider a clean energy package this summer and fall.  Senate committee chairs are currently drafting a new piece of legislation, and NOW is the opportunity to be talking with Senators and their staff about what USGBC wants to see in that bill.

Please see the attached factsheet that contains USGBC’s main talking points and the green building-related provisions we are asking for.

ACTION: Please help USGBC and energy/climate legislation by contacting your Senate delegation…

Please, use the James River Chapter's Political Action Center for an easy way to send your message via email ... or click on the names to get telephone numbers.

The attached fact sheet has the information you’ll need in full detail, but the main messages are:

  1. Legislation should include greenhouse gas reduction targets;
  2. Legislation must be comprehensive and contain aggressive national goals and programs for spurring renewable energy and energy efficiency; and
  3. Building efficiency is a low-cost solution to reduce greenhouse gases and will also create millions of new construction and manufacturing jobs that will help to support the clean energy economy.

CONTACT: Please let us know if you have questions…

If you have questions about this factsheet or about the legislation please contact Hope Lobkowicz, USGBC’s policy manager, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Thanks, as always, for your help and for your support of USGBC.
