Breaking News: We and three other Virginia USGBC Chapters (James River Green Building Council, National Capital Region Chapter and Hampton Roads Green Building Council) have received TWO grants – and an enthusiastic vote of confidence- from the National U. S. Green Building Council. The Vision: Green Schools within a Generation. Learn more about Green Schools... And about our Green Schools Challenge! The grant will assist us to coordinate our local Green Schools Events over the next year and to showcase them on an upcoming Virginia ‘Connect the Dots for Schools’ website. We’ll let you know more as these exciting efforts unfold over the next several months! Save the Dates: October 20, 2010 and May 1, 2011 How you can help: Green Schools Challenge Initiative sponsorships have statewide market penetration with a variety of types and benefits to suit your level of commitment and marketing strategy. The USGBC-SWVA Chapter is challenging qualified SW Virginia businesses and individuals to mentor local schools to devise and implement the most creative, effective and no or low cost sustainable practices for their schools. The official launch of the Green Schools Challenge will be at our Annual Connect the Dots Program at the Claude Moore Center in Roanoke, Virginia. And May 1, 2011, a Green Schools Challenge Display and Awards Ceremony will be held at the Hotel Roanoke, in conjunction with the Virginia Association of School Superintendents Conference.
